Total amount for two pencils and two erasers = 2 × ₹ 5 + 2 × ₹ 3
= ₹ (10 + 6)
= ₹ 16
Thus, they spend ₹ 16 together.
Question 2.
Multiply 65 by 23 by partial splitting.
Solution:
| x | 60 | 5 |
| 20 | 1,200 | 100 |
| 3 | 180 | 15 |
1200 + 100 + 180 + 15 – 1495
Thus, 65 × 23 = 1495

Question 4.
Divide 90090 by 9.
Solution:
Step 1: Divide the ten thousands digit 9 by 9. We have, quotient (Q) = 1 ten thousand and remainder (R) = 0
Step 2: Bring down the thousands digit 0. Since, 0 < 9, put a ‘0’ in the quotient at thousands place.
Step 3: Bring down the Hundreds digit 0. Since, it is also ‘0’, so again put a ‘0’ in the quotient at Hundreds place.
Step 4: Bring down the tens digit. Divide the tens digit 9 by 9. We have, Q = 1 and R = 0 put 1 at the tens place of quotient.
Step 5: Bring down the ones digit. Since, the ones digit is ‘0’, so put ‘0’ at ones place of quotient and R is also 0

Thus, Q = 10010 and R = 0
Checking: Divisor × Quotient + Remainder
= 9 × 10,010 + 0t 90,090 + 0
= 90,090
= Dividend
So, the answer is correct.
Question 5.

Number of candies with Payal = 20 packets of 50 = 50 × 20
= 1000
Total number of candies = 520 + 1000

Number of candies put in each new packet = 1520 ÷ 40
= 38
